Skin Treatments for Men

Male cosmetic treatments are becoming more popular, and we have a variety of options available at Ascot Dermatology suitable for men looking to improve their skin.

Facial anatomical features between men and woman vary significantly, and our dermatologists and nursing staff have extensive specialised training to ensure treatments are personalised to achieve optimal results. Treatment plans can be individualized according to a patient’s preference for downtime, pain tolerance, and cosmetic result expectations.

Specific Cosmetic Concerns for Men

Skin Rejuvenation

Skin ageing and sun damage can be addressed in a variety of ways, from laser treatments to chemical peels, microneedling and injectable treatments. These treatments can be used to improve skin texture, and to reduce pigmentation, redness, laxity and lines.

Facial Definition and Lines

Injectable volumising treatments to optimise chin and jawline definition are a popular treatment option to help balance facial features and enhance masculinity.

Skin lines that are worsened by facial movements (such as frown lines) may be treated with anti-wrinkle injections.  Skin lines that are present at rest (often found on the forehead) may be softened in appearance with the use of lasers, peels, microneedling or injectables.

Scarring

Scarring changes from acne or trauma to the skin can be addressed with various treatment options, including peels, microneedling, injectable and resurfacing/ablative laser treatments. Medicare rebates are available for some forms of scarring treated with ablative laser and/or corticosteroid injections by our dermatologists.

Male Pattern Hair Loss

Hairline recession and hair thinning are a common cosmetic concern for many men. This can be treated by our dermatologists with a variety of options including topical treatments, oral medications, and/or platelet rich plasma injections.

Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating)

Sweating can be reduced by a variety of methods including topical treatments, iontophoresis (a machine that utilises an electric current), oral medications, or injectable treatments.  Our dermatologists offer no-gap injectable treatment for axillary (underarm) hyperhidrosis for eligible Medicare patients.

Hair Removal

Ascot Dermatology is the only specialist dermatologist practice in Brisbane to offer the Soprano Titanium hair removal laser. This laser combines three separate light wavelengths that can target all hair colours, in all hair/skin types, offering a relatively fast and pain-free experience with excellent treatment outcomes.
