Narrowband UVB

Narrowband UVB is a type of light therapy (“phototherapy”) used to treat certain skin disorders associated with inflammation of the skin, such as eczema, psoriasis, and vitiligo, in addition to many others.

Narrowband UVB consists of a specific wavelength of ultraviolet B light, which is safer and more effective at treating skin disorders than natural sunlight. This treatment has been used in dermatology for many decades, and it has not been shown to be associated with any significant increased risk of skin cancer, most likely because it does not penetrate into the deeper skin layers.

At Ascot Dermatology, we have a full body narrowband UVB machine for treating widespread skin disorders, and also specialised hand and foot machines for treating skin disorders localised to these sites. Phototherapy treatments are bulk-billed.
