Skin Cancer Checks

The early detection of skin cancer can save lives. Routine full skin checks involve having the entire surface of the skin (excluding the area under the front of the underwear)  examined for the presence of skin cancers. Your dermatologist will use a hand-held device called a dermatoscope to enable thorough examination of your skin lesions. If there are suspicious lesions detected, further investigation (such as a biopsy) or other treatment may be recommended.

Regular skin checks are important for patients with risk factors such as fair skin, extensive sun damage, heavy sun exposure, prior tanning bed use, numerous moles/freckles, or a family history of melanoma.

At Ascot Dermatology, urgent appointments are prioritised for any patients who are suspected of having a skin cancer.
